Racial Bias in NYS Prisons
Black people make up only 14 percent of New York State’s population, but almost half of its prisoners.
This is an unconscionable statistic. As we push for serious criminal justice reform for our young people and for all, racial equity must be in the forefront of our fight. Racial inequality is not a symptom of our prison industrial complex but, in large part, its cause.
